I have yet to initiate warp into UnderVerse. This commo is informative.

There's plenty to do here to get started as far as I'm concerned. Selling the Manual is first and foremost after reading it of 'course.
Killing NPCs (class3) is the best way. After several kills you can sell all the weapons, buy the Mega class 7 shield, the bases sell all Vanilla class 9 weps on them and you can mount a code and two class 9s or w/e. Couple of turrets like a Rapier and a Wyrm and there's plenty of power to use them with and if you have ANY kind of fighting skill at all, you're good to go.
This dude he just wanted to be ignorant about the whole thing because he thought everyone should just drop what they were doing to attend to him. He didn't even try. At least the Maru is not that worthless Starflier with the BB guns mounted on it. The Maru has a decent size cargo hold for any server to start with. I would no complaints at all. I used it then the Taurus, Scrounge, then after a while, one of my old players threw me some extra credits to help me buy the Train. (i think i used one more before the train.) I even come to this server from the DRH server with 277mill on my char and didn't use it to get myself going. That 277mill was earned from and pure, 1.0 Vanilla server too.
I start you out with 750,000 on my server and that's it! No 5mill for some manual, there is none. My equipment cost much, much more than anything here, period. Players seemed to have gotten what they wanted anyway, without cheating to get it. They earned it like they should without complaints. My economy pays less than this and they still use the basic Vanilla trade ships. Now they have everything they needed and they worked hard for it. Once the server comes back up, I know they'll be back. Why? Because they liked the server and the way it's set up.
I've had people come to my forum in the past and rant about this same trash. In one and out the other.

I posted this somewhere once in the past, but I can't find it again, so I'll post it again in this thread, since it seems to apply.
Easy starting path for new players:
1. launch from Origin in your startup Maru, jump to the Merchant Alley (Strand system)
2. Dock with Planet Strand, read your UV manual to familiarize yourself with the place. Sell it to an admin for $5M credits.
3. If no admins are around at the time, shoot hostile NPCs outside Strand for about an hour or so and you'll have $5M easily.
4. Fly to Planet Aggie in Belesarius system (next to Strand) and buy a BH Elite Light Heavy fighter for about $2M
5. Gun farm all over the merchant alley systems getting familiar with the fast-turning ships in the UV and where some of the systems are located, and eventually save up enough cash to buy a heavy fighter (like an Exterminator in Etna or a Vulture in Creed or some similar ship) for about $50-60M, this will take you maybe a day or so.
6. Continue to gun farm and explore, saving up enough cash for $300M, then either swap out for a Saucer Freighter or a better fighter. This may take a week, maybe less if you have more playing time.
7. Go explore some of the outer systems, learn where stuff is at, talk to players and ask them about good trade routes, run some fun missions, etc.
If you know what you're doing or ask for advice you can cut this time down to a matter of a few days, but even for someone who doesn't know what they're doing, it shouldn't take much more than a week to be in a very nice ship making lots of $.

Yep, "gun farming" or "wreck looting" is one of the easiest ways you can start on the UV. This way, I had enough money for an Exterminator in 1 day, maybe less.
And considering the amount of expensive weps the NPCs drop, doing missions can get you enough for a decent ship in no-time.
So don't say it's too hard. You just didn't try at all.

When I first started on the server I too was unhappy with the weapon loadout on the Maru. But if you get the right weapons and shield on it you can do missions in the 1-3 mil range fairly easily. Although that was not the way I started out. What I did was gun farm. You may have noticed that there are almost always some Thieves, Thugs or Scavengers etc. around the bases and planets in Merchant alley systems. Such as Strand. If you can kill them you will pick up some class 10 codename weapons like the Diamond Backs for example. Those weapons sell for $300,000 each! You can make anywhere from 1-5 mil in just a few minutes depending on you fighting skills just by killing those NPC ships and then docking and selling the weapons. Then relaunch and there will usually be some more enemies to kill, and you just keep doing that until you can buy some better weapons, shields or ship. And in the process you can explore Merchant Alley, gun farming along the way. Feel free to ask me for help if no purifiers are on. You will also find that there are alot of really cool players on this server who like nothing more than to have a "wingman". Don't be shy....speak up. We're all very happy to try and help. Good Luck!
This looks like just the kind of server and mod that I will enjoy. Ive played this game off and on for a LONG time and some mods are just too easy, while others just dont have staying power. If he wants to leave, he'll leave... but I think it looks like fun!

I agree it is a great way for new guys to make money and that is a great thing. However If you are going to NPC farm please read this thread first it is very IMPORTANT.
NPC Loot Debris cause server LAG

If anyone PM's me a screen shot of a massive Debris Farm i will pay 500 million $ Reward and the player generating it without cleaning up as they go may find themselves targeted. Not because I am a confrontational player but because it really does effect the ability for other players on the server at the time. This is not a figment of my imagination, this has been tested by the admins and myself and there is no question that if you are going to farm then you must clean up or you will lag the server.

I started here Saturday, and got in the rut quite easily... The first few people I talked to I couldn't understand that well, but I tried...
Some advice:
Don't give up so easily.
Just keep asking around.
Maybe join a clan, and ask them.
All this helped me lots.

Well, if you're going to do that come get me right now and I'll take that reward for myself. Why? Because sometimes I have to go to the next system to sell what I have and return to get the rest so, there may be some loot left. Now get your getters on and come get me. I'm pretty good about cleaning up behind myself but, since you want to hand out rewards, I can darn sure use the credits. I want to buy a new ship. That's why I posted, 'grab what you can if passing through.'
I'll be in game shortly and bring your 500mill with ya.
Not everyone can do a clean up and I'm talking about smaller ships that don't have a large cargo hold. If they're bombarded with NPCs and try to run if they can't handle them all, they have to leave because they can't just stop to clean it up. You should express it as for players in larger ships. Smaller ones just don't have the room for much cargo. A HF may only hold 100 units when there may be 10 NPCs with over 200 units in all of loot. Prawns, Sauerkraut, Opals, Razor Blades, Shiraz Wine, all this is typical NPC loot. I say change the loot to pilots and then you may not find any left around. I like collecting pilots and I can certainly use the credits.
To you players with the smaller ship; Don't over kill!!! Get what you need or can hold then sell and return.

Mwhahaha! I like ya style HK but me thinks you have missed the point here.
All I am saying is for all players to be aware that huge loot debris fields cause lag for all the server. Don't try and turn this into something it's not. Have consideration for others if you intend to NPC farm is my point. No one has NPC farmed more then myself, there is nothing wrong with it if you are having fun and it serves your purpose, and you are cleaning as you go.
If you have not realised by now {KEA} is a friendly , diplomatic clan we are hardly going to get blood on our hands unnecessarily but I do feel very strongly about maintaining a server the is good for growth and a laggy server prevents that, especially if it can be avoided by a little knowledge.
So in short get over yourself, this isn't the first time you have quoted me and spat acid. You have even agreed with the point of NO OVERKILL without cleaning or allowing npc's to clean while you sell and yet in the same breathe you say get ya getters LOL!!! Wouldn't waste my time but know plenty of players that enjoy conflict much more then i do so go have ya fun with them.
Using the Join message to say "Where's your getter at?" is in my opinion both juvenille and everything these messages are NOT about. Don't abuse the Join message or you may ruin it for all of us.

Most people in the game have seen me and I am not a really great fighter pilot (Bluetick)... but I thought the game was very easy to get started in. The Maru is fast and agile, it is more than well enough equiped to
kill the low level NPC's. It was simple: used the code name weapons from the kills to equip the Maru with till had a full load out and then it was quite easy to kill the NPC's, on my second day I had someone guide me around and help me really get into the game for which I was very grateful but on the second day I had traded the maru for a Maze and had it equiped with a full loadout of codename weapons the best shields I could find a Merchant Thruster courtesy of Fire Ant on credit and had made 65mil buy the end of the second day. It sounds more to me like he put very little effort into it because he thought right up front that a FREIGHTER as he put it could not do what he need to do. "He couldn't kill fighters with a freighter." I have had to adjust my thinking for many things on this server. REALLY helpful and generous people, FAST powerful ships and Guns, and Admins that really seem to care about the game and the people one the server. I don't think you really need to change much at all. Just one persons opinion.

I think those 2 quotes ^ are helpful to new players, some of the rest of the posts here should have been made in another topic.
Bottom line, if you are new and you need help all you have to do is ask. The majority of players in the UV are good people and happy to help new players. Just ask.
